Crawford Notch State Park is an awesome state park

Crawford Notch State Park is an awesome state park in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The park is located on US HWY 302 and some of the best spots in the park can be seen right on the side of the highway! I’m fact, my three favorite sites in the park are right off the 302 and super easy to get to. These sites are also free and are within walking distance from each other.

🍁 Start off by parking in the Crawford Notch Scenic Parking Area (search this in Google maps). This parking area offers an amazing view of Crawford Notch (the deep valley you can see between the mountains).

🍁 After checking out Crawford Notch, head out of the parking lot and walk to the highway. If you look across the highway, you will see the Flume Cascade (waterfall) almost right across the street from the scenic parking lot.

🍁 After checking out the Flume Cascade, walk north along the 302 and you will see the Silver Cascade (waterfall) about 0.4 mi down the highway. There is also another parking lot across the street from the Silver Cascade if you would rather drive to it.

Driving on the 302 is a really pretty scenic drive. If you have some time, take a scenic drive on the 302 or check out the hikes and other activities in Crawford Notch State Park.

During this trip, we only had time for a short stop in Stowe and decided to spend that time at the Cider Mill. If you have more time in Stowe, my other must-dos are the Stowe Gondola Skyride, the Ben & Jerry’s factory and Smuggler’s Notch.

If you’re looking for a fun way to get from NY to VT, you’ve got to check out Lake Champlain Ferries!

⛴️ The ferries travel on two routes between NY/VT: Essex, NY to Charlotte, VT and Grand Isle, VT to Plattsburg, NY.

⛴️We recently took the ferry from Essex, NY to Charlotte, NY on our road trip across New England. The ride is approximately 30 minutes and costs $17 for 2 people ($11.75 for driver and vehicle + $5.25 for an additional passenger).

⛴️The ferry ride is a great way to take a little break from driving on a long road trip and you can’t beat the scenic views on Lake Champlain.
